Brian McDonald is the author of Invisible Ink: A Practical Guide to Building Stories that Resonate, and The Golden Theme. An accomplished screenwriter and director, Brian has taught and consulted, at Pixar, Disney and Industrial Light & Magic. His films include Flickering Memories, and the award-winning short film White Face, which sold to HBO.

This workshop is designed for writers that have an understanding of 3 act structure and are looking to master the technique of writing a solid first act.  In this hands on writing lab, you will be guided through developing a first act that will support acts two and three.  You will then move on to build second and third acts that are compelling and actually work!

Students will learn how to construct acts that build upon each other and lead the story seamlessly forward. Over the course of the class students will get hands on experience writing a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Act and understand how Clone Characters can be utilized to support the theme.
